Distribution of Water on Earth
Water Cycle on Earth
|
Our Earth is primarily comprised of water, and that water cycles throughout our world in a very specific way. So long as our atmosphere stays in tact, the world's water supply should never diminish. It can however TRANSFORM.
We will watch the video on the Earth's water cycle, discuss, and then you will have time to complete your interactive task for today. Interactive Notebook: Complete the demonstrating the cycle of water on Earth. Be sure to cut along the detached line to create a flap for your key words. |
Water Quality
Is potable water a right or a privilege?
Many people die daily due to access and lack of clean potable water. Play the game attached to the "unicef" image above to form an opinion. PREPARE TO SHARE |
The quality of water is important to the very survival of all living organisms on Earth. As a result, we must ensure our water supply is potable. We test water for:

Water: A Right or for Profit?
We have spent a lot of time discussing the quality of water and the fact that not just humans, but all animals require water in order to survive. Human's have found many ways to profit over our basic needs.
Should water be for profit? You decide! Use evidence from the film FLOW and other resources to justify your opinion. You will not be marked for your opinion - I will be looking at your justification. Fill out the While you Watch form to help guide your response.

Water Purification
Desalination:
We know that 97% of the Earth's water is held in our oceans and seas. This water is not useful as drinking water for humans. Humans have made an effort to learn about ways to take the salt out of water (known as desalination)
YOUR TASK: With a partner, research different methods of desalination. In your interactive notebook, draw AND LABEL a diagram of a homemade desalination device (hint - you can find this in your textbook). In your opinion, considering all we know about the need to conserve the biodiversity of our ecosystems, should we look at a way to desalinate ocean water for drinking, agricultural or industrial use?
