What is Sin?
|
Individual Sin
Individual sin is personal. It is a decision WE make that goes against the truth that is God. Sin is a DELIBERATE refusal to pay attention to the rules and guidelines set by the 10 Commandments and the Church. Our CONSCIENCE is what prevents us from sinning, and requires development. |
Social Sin
Social sins are the structures and accepted practices in our society that make it hard for people to avoid sin. Social sins include unjust policies throughout the world. PARTNER WORK - Respond to the video "The Apparel Truth": Was there anything that surprised or shocked you? How will this information change your consumer behaviour? Forgiveness of Sins
When asked by Peter if he should offer forgiveness 7 times to those who have done wrong to him, Jesus said,"I tell you, not seven times, but seventy times seven times." Matthew 18:21-22
This answer by Jesus makes it clear that forgiveness is not easy for us. It's not a one-time choice and then we automatically live in a state of forgiveness. Forgiveness may require a lifetime of forgiving, but it is important to the Lord. We must continue forgiving until the matter is settled in our heart. |
The Parable of the Bicycle Wheel

Luke 15: 11-32: the Prodigal Son Questions from scripture (classwork marks): 1) What did the prodigal son do to seek reconciliation? 2) What did the father do to seek reconciliation? 3) Does this story mean that we can do whatever we want because God forgives us anyway?
